Have you finished your Christmas shopping? It’s not too late!
December is also my birthday so my friends are always asking me what they is the best gifts they can get me for my birthday or Christmas. I can be hard to buy for, considering I spend nearly every month on a trip somewhere in the world, and most gifts won’t fit in my suitcase.
So for everyone that asked, Mum, Dad, besties, and boyfriend, or perhaps you’re in a similar position and need to pass this on to your friends and family, here’s the Christmas Travel Gifts For The 2022 Travel Addict.
*All prices are in USD (US dollars).
1. Packing Cubes
My number one must-have travel accessory and the best travel gifts. I use these for my kids, myself, and my partner. They are handy for so many things: keeping all your clothes together, keeping your clothes separate from someone else’s, helping keep track of luggage weight or space, quickly grabbing items for those fast-paced trips and so much more. Believe me – these are the ultimate gift.
2. American Tourister Airconic Carry on
With airlines getting stricter and stricter on the weight you can bring onto the plane, I went searching for the lightest carry-on I can find so I could maximize my personal items. The American Tourister Airconic in Mango is my favorite, but if you’re looking for an Amazon find, check out the Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside Expandable Luggage with 4 Spinner Wheels. And it comes in pink for the ladies!
3. Air Tag
The reason I carry only carry-on is that lost checked luggage seems to be a normal way of life at the moment. If you need checked luggage then get the travel lover in your life an Air Tag to keep track of that slippery sucker.
Been a while since I had myself a new Kindle and the paperwhite is on my Christmas list this year. The best gift a traveler can get in my opinion. The ability to have any book at any time with their fingerprints, without the excess baggage cost. Be careful which one you choose, it may seem cheaper, but it has way less memory. Now they can download those huge Lonely Travel books, instead of trying to fit them in their limited suitcase.
5. Kindle Unlimited
Black Friday the Kindle Unlimited was priced at $41 for 6 months. Guess what my son got for Christmas?
Here’s a great gift idea. Don’t get stuck watching TV in a foreign language or daytime dramas with no substance. Take this mini Firestick with you and transform any hotel TV or Airbnb into your own personal cinema.
7. Amazon Prime Membership
Ability to watch movies on the plane and anywhere in the world on your Fire TV stick. Yes, please! It not only works on Amazon Video but allows a traveler to get faster delivery, which is always needed when you are anywhere in the world.
8. Amazon Music Unlimited
I love Amazon Music, I listen to it every day. If someone got me a year’s subscription to this I would be over the moon. Just saying. Best travel gift.
9. Amazon Gift Card
Price: $Up to you
Why not let them choose their books or Kindle by getting a gift card? An Amazon gift card is not a thoughtless gift, it’s a loving gift that says I want you to choose what you want.
10. Cocktails for your favorite Content Creator
If you are thinking, “Oh no! I missed Erin’s Birthday!” It’s not too late! If you didn’t make it to my birthday party, you can still help me celebrate by shouting me a cocktail here in Australia. Just click here.
You can even set this up for the friends, families, or Influencers in your life.
11. SD Card
A traveling grown-up is sure to be taking lots of photos so you can’t go wrong with a large-capacity SD card. Go for the 1TB size and a “Class 10” speed for fast performance, or better yet a Wi-Fi-enabled SD card so you can see the pictures as soon as they’re taken. These can be used in enabled phones, laptops, cameras, you name it.
12. insta360 ONE X2
All the rage at the moment and certainly on my bucket list is this 360 camera, which is like having a drone but isn’t likely to crash and burn. It’s a 360-degree waterproof action camera, 5.7K 360, stabilization, touch screen, AI editing, live streaming, webcam, and voice control.
13. GoPro Hero
Always a winning travel gift for any water or adventure lover. I highly recommend you add the head strap when you gift this wonderful Christmas gift for the 2023 travel addict.
14. World Travel Adaptor
The bane of a traveler’s existence – being unable to charge. Save them the trouble with a world travel adaptor that can plug into any country and charge any device. USB points are always a winner too.
15. Stemless Unbreakable Wine Glasses
You can’t drink good Italian wine in a hotel glass. Do it in style for those nights when you’re sitting back in your hotel enjoying life. Love these unbreakable wine glasses. And why you are it, consider also pairing it with the Pop the Top bottle opener ($9.99) so you never find yourself somewhere unable to pop the top. Did I mention these guys are very good friends of mine and fellow travel addicts, so they know what they are doing?
16. Personalised Magnets
Price: From $5
Turn those magical travel moments into something flat, durable, and reusable… magnets! Sticking these to your fridge makes any new house feel more like home. It’s a wonderful way to mark milestones and slip into any suitcase without taking up any space. You can find them anywhere now from your local Kmart or online at places like Zazzle.
17. Scratch Map
Looking for a fun travel gift to give your 2023 travel addict? How about a Scratch Map? I have one in my office! Fabulous for the avid traveler who likes to keep track of where they have been and where they are going.
18. An Upgrade
Price: As much or as little as you want
Got some extra points lying around? Or perhaps you have heard of OptionTown on AirAsia? Most airlines have a bidding system to upgrade a ticket. If your loved travel addict is heading somewhere why not give the airline a call and see if you can gift them a first-class experience?
19. An Experience
Price: As much or as little as you want
Nothing beats the gift of an experience. If you know where they are going why not help out? Book them a helicopter ride above the Grand Canyon, a Disneyworld entrance ticket, a Ride in New York, a hot air balloon trip over Cappadocia, or a ride on the London Eye. The memories from experiences last longer than any gift you will be able to give and is the one gift we always treasure.
20. Travel Neck Pillow
Any experienced traveler will be a fan of comfy neck pillows, especially on long-haul flights. This particular neck pillow was designed by nomadic travelers so they know what they were doing. And they happen to be good friends of mine, so I know they will look after your comfort!
21. Be a Scottish Lord/Lady
For the person who has everything why not make them a Lord or Lady? Starting at $42 you choose a gift pack that includes a plot of land in Scotland which allows you to style yourself as a Laird, Lord, or Lady of Glencoe. Plus, you are helping support a unique conservation project. What a unique gift idea. You can call me Lady Erin from now on.
22. Travel Towel
We normally travel in a sarong, because they are so lightweight and practical. I was pleasantly surprised when we tried out these full-body towels. These by my fav AirComfy girl are a generous 32” x 72” size, made from Microfiber, which is lightweight, packs smaller, dries faster, is extra absorbent, and super soft!
I’ve been looking for something like this gift idea for a while and finally found it. A soft-sided personal portable outdoor safe to keep our valuables where they belong. Heading to the beach? Attach it to your beach chair and never worry about lost keys or sandy phones again. The nylon skin is slash-resistant, water-resistant, and has a programmable lock.
24. Cable Organiser
How many times have you screamed at your knot of electronic cables? When you travel don’t get flustered, just get organized. This has 2 dual-sided plates, each featuring 10 woven elastic straps customizable for organizing all your cables.
25. Phone Waterproof Case
I always use my waterproof case – beaches, pools, jet skis, cruising, theme parks, water parks, and more. Don’t get the cheap one!
26. Travel Scales
I don’t know why we didn’t own one of these sooner. I adore travel scales and they have helped us avoid the dreaded “airport repack”, which is the nightmare of any traveler. I use it every time I take a trip and keep it in the front pocket of my luggage.
27. Travel Tiles
Price: $49.95 for 3 | Photobooks
Because travel should never stop when you get home. Give the gift of bringing travel memories to life.
28. Give In-Kind
Price: $Varies | Visit website
When I read about this I loved the idea. Back when I was pregnant with my children my local church organized meals for 2 weeks when bub came so that I could focus on being a new mum. It’s always hard to think of ways to support someone, but Give In-Kind makes things easy this Christmas or during a crisis. No matter what major life event is happening, Give In-Kind gives you the tools to be there for your loved ones… even if you’re on the other side of the world.
29. TSA Travel Size Toiletry Containers
Make the traveler’s life easy with approved bottle sizes for all their toiletries. Turn your big items into onboard-approved items for easy carry-on.
30. Portable Door Lock
Here’s a unique travel gift. Traveling alone or heading somewhere a little more exciting in 2023? Then consider taking this portable door lock with you for extra security in the place you rest your head.
31. Flying Flex Wrap
We’ve all seen the airplane sick bag hack, well now you can avoid those century-old bags and do it yourself.
