Legoland Malaysia Theme Park With Teens

We are back! Ten years later to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.

And resort it is!

No longer the LEGOLAND theme park we visited back in 2012, LEGOLAND has since added a waterpark, a hotel, and a Sea Life Aquarium.

Does Malaysia have LEGOLAND?

Yes! It was the first LEGOLAND in Asia.

Is Legoland Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur?

LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort is not in Kuala Lumpur. It is strategically located in Southeast Asia, closer to Singapore than Kuala Lumpur.

How far is Kuala Lumpur from LEGOLAND? LEGOLAND is about 3 hours from Kuala Lumpur. We hired a car and drove down an easy stretch of highway.

And while it’s only a mere 45 minutes from Singapore (where you can visit Universal Studios Singapore) it’s more expensive to hire a car from Changi Airport in Singapore than it was from KLIA in Malaysia.

Where To Stay When Visiting Legoland Malaysia?

On our first visit, we stayed at Pulai Springs Resort. This time we stayed at the LEGOLAND hotel in Iskandar Puteri.

When is LEGOLAND open?

Please check the website for current opening hours. During our time there the LEGOLAND theme park was closed on Wednesdays and the water park was closed on Tuesdays.

We also found a few of the rides had opening times and were not open the entire day.

How Big Is LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort?

It covers the same area of more than 50 full-size football pitches and contains more than 15,000 LEGO models made from over 60 million LEGO bricks.

How long do you need at Legoland Malaysia?

Is one day enough for Legoland Malaysia? Gone are the days when a 1-day pass was enough. I would recommend a minimum of 2 to fit in the theme park, water park, and SEA LIFE.

What age is best for LEGOLAND?

The park recommends ages 2 – 12 and I would have to agree. Having gone to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort with kids my two and three-year-olds loved it and were able to do most activities. You can read my LEGOLAND Malaysia review with kids here.

Legoland Malaysia Resort with kids

Is Legoland suitable for older kids? As 12 and 13 years olds the kids were slightly less interested in the theme park. There were many rides they couldn’t go on, although the Great Lego Race and the Dragon roller coaster did get a good workout.

My 12-year-old son certainly loved all the LEGO much more than my 13-year-old daughter. He has quite an extensive collection at home from LEGO Star Wars to Marvel.

If you have questions on whether LEGOLAND Malaysia is suitable for 2-year-olds? Yes, echoed in my LEGOLAND with kids post. Same if you’ve been asking is LEGOLAND worth it for a 4-year-old?

Can adults go to Legoland Malaysia without a child? Of course! I had just as much fun as my kids did.

What is the difference between LEGOLAND and LEGOLAND Discover Center?

Legoland Discovery Centre is an indoor family attraction chain operated by the British leisure group Merlin Entertainments. It features models and attractions inspired by the Lego building toys. The Discovery Centres are smaller versions of the Legoland theme parks.

Which LEGOLAND is the best?

Game of Bricks labeled LEGOLAND Malaysia as the best in the world!

Where Else Can I Go To LEGOLAND?

Other LEGOLAND Resorts are located in Japan, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

What Is At LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort?

LEGOLAND Park

A theme park with over 40 rides and attractions and now 8 awesome themed areas namely The Beginning, LEGO Technic, LEGO City, LEGO Kingdom, Miniland, Imagination, Land Of Adventure, and LEGO NINJAGO World.

While the younger kids spent the entire day at LEGOLAND Malaysia theme park, we managed to arrive at noon and finish up by closing. Make sure you check the website for possible temporary closure, and for scheduled movies and shows like their new Monster Party.

My three teens, aged 12, 13, and 14 loved LEGOLAND Kingdoms the best. The rides were larger and scarier.

We enjoyed lunch at Pizza Mania and had the largest pizza I have ever seen in my life. It wasn’t the best, but it fed 3 hungry teens!

The trees had grown huge during the last ten years and the park is well-shaded for guests.

LEGOLAND Water Park

Over 20 slides, rides, shows, and water games. You can ride the surf at the LEGO wave pool, float along the Build-A-Raft lazy river, and slide down tube and body slides.

My teenagers enjoyed the LEGOLAND Malaysia water park.

We spent a lot of time in the wave pool cooling down and riding the multiple family water slides.

The food on offer is typical fast food nuggets, fries, etc. The lockers weren’t using credit cards while we were there, but we had no problems leaving our stuff on the lounge chairs.

Both parks are very easy walking distance from the hotel.

LEGOLAND Hotel

Stay at the LEGOLAND Malaysia Hotel for a unique overnight experience. With a choice of 4 themed rooms for swashbuckling pirates, princes & princesses, powerful pharaohs & adventurers, or mysterious ninjas. Rooms can sleep up to 5, perfect for families!

We stayed in the LEGOLAND Adventure Room, which was Indiana Jones style. Rooms include 2 separate sleeping areas; with a king-sized bed for adults and a separate area for up to 3 children, complete with a bunk bed, pull-out trundle bed, and their very own TV.

The room included a scavenger hunt which my son adored trying to solve before finding a LEGO brick set inside a treasure chest. There’s also a play wall in the room.

Inside the hotel is a store selling LEGO, and several restaurants. We ate breakfast at the Bricks Family Restaurant. A dine-in surrounded by LEGO parts everywhere. There is a variety of cuisines from Western to Asian delight.

Breakfast at Bricks Restaurant was a buffet with anything from sugary cereals or pancakes to Asian noodles and rice. I am addicted to Kaya and when I asked if they had any on the buffet, the staff were kind enough to bring me some to the table.

There is also plenty for kids to do at the hotel. They can check out the concierge wall with over 12,528 LEGO Minifigures with a bicycle magnifying glass to see the up close.

The hotel elevator is always a party with the “Everything is Awesome” song playing and a disco ball with flashing lights. The lobby has a LEGO play area keeping all the little ones amused while waiting for the check-in. And there is a beautiful shaded pool area with views to die for.

The LEGOLAND Hotel Malaysia is right at the doorstep of the Theme Park, LEGOLAND Water Park & Aquarium. It’s also within walking distance of a supermarket and several restaurants including a Starbucks and KFC.

SEA LIFE

SEA LIFE Malaysia is compelling storytelling and an up-close interactive education journey of the ocean. Showcasing 25 display tanks in 11 habitat zones, featuring over 13,000 sea creatures from 120 species!

Is LEGOLAND Malaysia worth it with teens?

Although there wasn’t as much to do at the theme park, we still had a great vacation spending our time at the LEGOLAND hotel and the water park. If you didn’t get the chance to take the kids to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort then don’t hesitate to do it with your young teens.
