VinWonders Phu Quoc With Kids: Is Vietnam’s Disney Dupe Worth Visiting?

What if I told you there was a theme park in Vietnam where you could experience thrilling rides, explore an incredible aquarium, cool off in a huge water park, watch an impressive evening show, and you never really need to even wait in a line?

Sounds a little too good to be true, right?

Welcome to VinWonders Phu Quoc, one of Vietnam’s biggest theme parks and a Disney-style family attraction located on beautiful Phu Quoc Island.

VinWonders Phu Quoc With Kids: Entrance

This VinWonders Phu Quoc review shares our honest experience visiting with teenagers, including what we loved, what surprised us, and whether this famous Vietnam theme park is worth adding to your family itinerary.

After years of family travel and visiting some of the world’s biggest theme parks, including Disneyland Hong Kong, Disneyland California and Disney World Florida, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Could a theme park in Vietnam really compete?

VinWonders Phu Quoc With Kids

The answer surprised me.

We visited VinWonders Phu Quoc with my partner and our two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, and honestly, we had such a fun day. From the thrill rides and massive aquarium to the surprisingly affordable food and incredible evening show, VinWonders Phu Quoc quickly became one of our favourite things to do in Phu Quoc with teenagers.

And yes, I think Vietnam may have created one of the most impressive Disney-style theme park experiences in Southeast Asia.

Visiting VinWonders Phu Quoc With Teenagers

Before heading to VinWonders Phu Quoc, we stopped by a local market and did something that instantly became one of my favourite travel memories.

We bought matching outfits.

VinWonders Phu Quoc With Kids: Matching outfits

For around $8 each, we were all dressed alike and ready for our family theme park adventure.

Sometimes it is the simple moments that become the stories you remember.

Travelling with teenagers can sometimes mean finding experiences that everyone genuinely enjoys. The parents want something memorable, the teenagers want something exciting, and nobody wants to hear “this is boring” after spending money on a family day out.

VinWonders Phu Quoc delivered.

Our teenagers loved the thrill rides, we all enjoyed exploring the different themed areas, and there was enough variety that everyone found something they enjoyed.

STOP! How cute are we?

What Is VinWonders Phu Quoc?

VinWonders Phu Quoc is one of Vietnam’s largest theme parks, located on Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam.

Often described as the “Disney of Vietnam” or a Disney alternative in Vietnam, VinWonders Phu Quoc combines a traditional theme park with a water park, aquarium, rides, shows, and entertainment areas.

It is designed as a full-day attraction, making it one of the best family attractions in Phu Quoc.

Unlike many major theme parks around the world where you can spend hours standing in queues, our experience was completely different.

There were no lines.

Honestly, almost anywhere we went, we could walk straight onto attractions.

Having visited Disney parks where waiting an hour for a ride is completely normal, this felt like a luxury.

Exploring VinWonders Phu Quoc: Rides, Aquarium and Water Park

VinWonders Phu Quoc is divided into different themed worlds, each offering a different experience.

There are rides, entertainment, interactive attractions, an aquarium and a water park, making it easy to spend an entire day exploring.

The Thrill Rides at VinWonders Phu Quoc

The thrill rides were definitely a highlight for our family.

My teenagers loved the adrenaline-pumping attractions, and I am a HUGE fan too, as always.

But the best bit? Walking straight up to a ride, jumping on, and not having to spend half your day waiting.

For families visiting Phu Quoc with older kids or teenagers, VinWonders offers much more than just small children’s rides.

See these pictures below – opportunity for lines, but not while we were there.

Sea Shell Aquarium at VinWonders Phu Quoc

One of the biggest surprises of the day was the Sea Shell Aquarium. How cute is it? The Aquarium is in that turtle.

The aquarium is an incredible underwater world featuring a huge range of marine life and immersive experiences.

VinWonders Phu Quoc With Kids: Sea Shell Aquarium

Huge tanks, multiple walk-through tunnels, shows, interactive exhibits, and penguins!

The aquarium is also a great place to escape the heat.

Vietnam can get hot, and having a cool indoor attraction in the middle of your theme park day is a definite win.

Plus, did I mention penguins?

VinWonders Phu Quoc Water Park

If you are visiting Phu Quoc with kids, the water park is another huge bonus.

With Vietnam’s tropical weather, having the chance to cool down between rides is perfect.

Pack swimmers, sunscreen, and be prepared to spend plenty of time enjoying the water attractions.

Rope Park at VinWonders Phu Quoc

One of the unexpected highlights for our teenagers was the rope park.

While the thrill rides were definitely a hit, the rope course gave them something completely different. It was active, challenging, and a great way to burn off some energy while having fun.

For families travelling with older kids or teenagers, this is the kind of attraction that makes VinWonders Phu Quoc stand out. It is not just about watching shows or going on rides. There are opportunities to get involved, test your skills, and have a bit of an adventure.

Our teenagers loved the challenge, and it quickly became one of their favourite parts of the day. And mine, since I could sit down and just rest!

Indoor Playground at VinWonders Phu Quoc

Travelling with younger children? Don’t worry, VinWonders Phu Quoc has plenty for little ones too.

The indoor playground is a fantastic option for toddlers and younger kids who need a break from the heat.

Vietnam can get hot, and having an indoor space where younger children can safely play, cool down, and take a break from walking around the park is a huge bonus for families.

We didn’t need this section, but I did take a sneak peek, and it was set up so cute in its ancient Egyptian theme.

This is one of the reasons VinWonders Phu Quoc works so well as a family attraction. There is something for every age group, from toddlers discovering their first theme park experience to teenagers looking for excitement and adventure.

Is VinWonders Phu Quoc Vietnam’s Disney Alternative?

I have a confession.

Before visiting VinWonders Phu Quoc, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

After visiting Disneyland Hong Kong, Disneyland California, and Disney World Florida, I wondered whether a theme park in Vietnam could really deliver that same feeling of excitement and magic.

And while VinWonders Phu Quoc is not Disney, it does offer something surprisingly special.

It has immersive themed areas, exciting rides, entertainment, incredible family experiences and the kind of moments that make kids’ eyes light up.

The biggest difference?

The crowds and the price.

During our visit, we barely waited for anything. We could enjoy rides without spending hours standing in queues, which made the whole day feel relaxed and fun.

For families travelling through Vietnam, VinWonders Phu Quoc is a fantastic Disney alternative that delivers a memorable theme park experience without the Disney price tag.

Our Verdict: VinWonders Phu Quoc or Disneyland?

Would I say VinWonders Phu Quoc is better than Disneyland?

No.

Disneyland has decades of storytelling, beloved characters, and a level of nostalgia that is impossible to replicate.

But would I recommend VinWonders Phu Quoc to families visiting Vietnam? Families on a budget?

Absolutely.

Your younger kids will NEVER know the difference, and your teens probably won’t mind too much.

For our family, the combination of thrill rides, the aquarium surprise, the water park, affordable food and almost no queues made it one of our favourite days in Phu Quoc.

If your kids love theme parks and you want to add something unforgettable to your Vietnam family holiday, VinWonders Phu Quoc is absolutely worth considering.

VinWonders Phu Quoc Tickets and Prices

VinWonders Phu Quoc ticket prices can change depending on the season, promotions, and ticket type, so it is worth checking the official website before visiting.

When we visited, tickets were approximately $50 AUD per person, and around $15 AUD of that could be used as food credit inside the park.

For our family, this worked incredibly well because the included food credit covered our lunch and dessert.

Compared with major international theme parks, VinWonders Phu Quoc offers a much more affordable family day out.

We recommend checking for discounted tickets here.

What To Eat At VinWonders Phu Quoc

A theme park day is never complete without good food, and one thing that surprised us about VinWonders Phu Quoc was the variety of food options available throughout the park.

Unlike some major theme parks around the world where food can quickly become one of the most expensive parts of the day, we found eating at VinWonders Phu Quoc to be surprisingly affordable.

Included in our VinWonders Phu Quoc ticket price was a food voucher, which made the experience even better. The voucher value was more than enough to cover what we wanted to eat during our visit, including lunch and dessert.

One of the highlights was trying bingsu for the first time. This Korean-style shaved ice dessert was the perfect treat on a hot day in Vietnam. Cool, refreshing, and delicious, it was exactly what we needed after exploring the rides and attractions.

Street Food At VinWonders Phu Quoc

One of the things I loved about VinWonders Phu Quoc was that it didn’t feel like a typical theme park food experience.

There were plenty of street food vendors throughout the park, which added a fun local touch. You could grab quick snacks while walking around, try different treats, or stop for something more substantial.

From small bites and desserts to full meals, there were options to suit different tastes and budgets.

Restaurants At VinWonders Phu Quoc

If you prefer sitting down for a proper meal, VinWonders Phu Quoc also has a range of restaurants and dining areas.

One of the most unique dining experiences is the underwater restaurant located within the Sea Shell Aquarium.

Check discounted tickets here.

Dining surrounded by marine life is definitely something you don’t experience at every theme park, and it adds another memorable element to a day at VinWonders.

Whether you are visiting VinWonders Phu Quoc with toddlers, younger kids or teenagers, you won’t struggle to find something everyone will enjoy eating.

For us, the combination of affordable food, fun snacks, our first bingsu experience, and the convenience of the included food voucher made the whole day even better.

VinWonders Phu Quoc One Day Itinerary

If you only have one day at VinWonders Phu Quoc, this is how I would plan your visit.

Morning

Arrive early and start with the main theme park rides while energy levels are high.

This is the best time to enjoy the thrill rides, especially if you are visiting with teenagers.

Lunch

Take a break from the heat and enjoy lunch inside the park.

Make sure you leave room for dessert. We discovered bingsu for the first time, and it was the perfect refreshing treat.

Afternoon

Spend time exploring:

  • Sea Shell Aquarium
  • Water park attractions
  • Themed areas
  • Family rides

Evening

Stay for the closing show.

The combination of water effects, fire, and pyrotechnics made it the perfect way to finish the day.

VinWonders Phu Quoc is located in the north of Phu Quoc Island, inside the Phu Quoc United Center complex near Grand World Phu Quoc and Vinpearl Safari.

The easiest option for most visitors is taking a taxi.

Taxis are readily available around Phu Quoc and are relatively inexpensive, especially when compared with transport costs in many international destinations.

Another great option is the free VinBus electric shuttle service.

These free electric buses operate regularly, making it easy for visitors staying in different parts of the island to reach the attractions without needing to hire transport.

Once you arrive at the Phu Quoc United Center, local shuttles or tuk-tuk-style transport can help you move between attractions.

Staying Near VinWonders Phu Quoc

The Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort is a five-star beachfront property located in Ganh Dau on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam.

For our family, it was the perfect base.

We stayed in a two-storey, three-bedroom villa that was literally right on the beach.

The villa was spacious, comfortable and gave us the perfect balance of privacy and resort facilities.

The pool was magnificent, the service was excellent, and after busy days exploring Phu Quoc, coming back to a beachfront villa was exactly what our family needed.

Nearby Attractions To Visit With VinWonders Phu Quoc

If you are planning a Phu Quoc family itinerary, there are several attractions close to VinWonders that are well worth adding to your trip. One of the things we loved most about staying in the north of the island was how easy it was to combine multiple attractions into one relaxing holiday.

Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc

Located just minutes from VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari is Vietnam’s largest wildlife conservation park and one of the island’s most popular family attractions.

The safari is home to hundreds of animal species from around the world, with both walking trails and safari bus experiences. It’s a fantastic addition if you’re travelling with animal lovers and an easy attraction to combine with VinWonders over two days.

Check discounted tickets here.

Grand World Phu Quoc

Grand World is another must-visit attraction and sits just a short drive from VinWonders.

Often called the “Sleepless City”, Grand World comes alive in the evenings with colourful buildings, canals inspired by Venice, restaurants, cafés, shopping, live performances and spectacular light displays.

One of the highlights for us was taking a gondola boat ride through the canals.

It genuinely felt like stepping into Venice, but without the Venice price tag. Gliding along the water surrounded by colourful buildings and the atmosphere of Grand World was such a fun experience, and I would highly recommend adding it to your Phu Quoc itinerary.

We also visited Teddy Bear World while we were there, which was such a cute surprise.

I have to admit, I wasn’t sure whether this would be more suited to younger kids, but even our teenagers loved it just as much as I did. Sometimes the unexpected attractions end up becoming some of your favourite travel memories.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to have dinner after your day at VinWonders, enjoy an evening stroll, take a gondola ride or simply wander through one of Vietnam’s most unique entertainment precincts, Grand World Phu Quoc is well worth visiting.

Discounted tickets here.

Ganh Dau Beach

If you feel like slowing the pace down after a day of rides, Ganh Dau Beach offers beautiful white sand, calm water and a much quieter atmosphere than many of Vietnam’s busier beaches.

It’s another reason why we loved staying in the north of Phu Quoc.

Southern Phu Quoc: Hon Thom Cable Car, Sunset Town and Istanbul Beach Club

While most of our time in Phu Quoc was spent exploring the north of the island, we did spend one afternoon touring Southern Phu Quoc, and it gave us a completely different perspective of the island.

It was a very quick visit for us, and we arrived at Hon Thom Cable Car later in the day, close to closing time, so we didn’t have much time to explore the theme park at the other end. However, the cable car ride itself was absolutely worth it. Gliding high above the turquoise ocean, looking out over the islands and coastline below, was one of those experiences where the journey really is the highlight.

Get your discounted tickets to Hon Thom Cable Car and Aquatopia here.

We also explored the Sunset Town area and then finished the afternoon at Istanbul Beach Club, which ended up being my favourite part of our Southern Phu Quoc adventure.

VinWonders Phu Quoc With Kids: Istanbul Beach Club

After busy days touring, rides and sightseeing, this was exactly what we needed. Sitting by the ocean, enjoying cocktails, swinging over the water and staying in the sea until the sun disappeared was pure relaxation.

I would highly recommend Istanbul Beach Club, even if it is just for a few hours of unwinding and soaking up the incredible beachfront atmosphere.

Explore With Erin Wrap Up: Would We Return To VinWonders Phu Quoc?

I am honestly so glad we heard about Phu Quoc.

Before this trip, I think a lot of people, myself included, naturally think of Vietnam and immediately picture the incredible chaos of Hanoi, the lantern-filled streets of Hoi An, the beaches of Nha Trang or the energy of Ho Chi Minh City.

And don’t get me wrong, we loved those places too. Hoi An especially stole our hearts. There is something magical about wandering the old streets, eating incredible food and soaking up the atmosphere. It’s still one of my favourite places in Vietnam, and somewhere I’d return to in a heartbeat.

But Phu Quoc showed us a completely different side of Vietnam.

It felt relaxed. It felt tropical. It felt like a place where you could slow down, enjoy beautiful beaches, spend quality time together as a family and still have those unforgettable adventure moments.

Our teenagers loved it. I loved it. My partner loved it. And I would absolutely go back.

VinWonders Phu Quoc was one of those unexpected travel surprises. The kind of place where you arrive with no huge expectations and leave thinking, “Wow, that was actually amazing.”
