You might think visiting Bangkok is just a shopping mecca for adults and a nightlife hotspot for singles, but it’s actually full of family-friendly surprises. If you’re travelling to Thailand with toddlers, the city offers more than you’d expect. From indoor playgrounds and interactive museums to waterparks and scenic river rides, the activities in Bangkok are endless.

Accommodation for Families in Bangkok
Finding the right place to stay can make all the difference when travelling to Bangkok with toddlers. For families, I always look for air conditioning, a comfortable family room, and ideally a kids club so little ones have a safe space to play while adults relax.
Areas like Khao San Road are lively and convenient, with plenty of restaurants and markets within walking distance, but quieter streets nearby are better for toddlers’ naps. For a mix of convenience and comfort, hotels near Siam, Sukhumvit, or Riverside often offer family-friendly amenities, pools, and spacious rooms perfect for traveling with young kids.
Bangkok for Kids
Heading to Bangkok with kids? Here are 11 things to do with kids in Bangkok that Mia, Caius, and I loved on our Thailand adventure.
1. Fantasia Lagoon – Rooftop Toddler Waterpark
Location: The Mall Bang Khae, Phet Kasem Rd, Bangkok
Approx Price: THB 300-500 kids & adults (varies by season) (USD 9‑15)
I didn’t expect a kids’ waterpark in Bangkok, but this one surprised us as far as things to do in Bangkok go. A secret waterpark uncovered by yours truly. When we visited, it was brand new and celebrating its Grand Opening. When I took tiny Mia and little Caius here, they squealed from the moment we hit the shallow splash zones and lazy river. Water slides are gentle enough for toddlers, and the pirate ship play area was a hit. Swim caps are required, so bring one or hire one for 30 cents. You can also hire inflatable tubes, towels, and lockers. Food is available right outside for local prices ($1/$2). Also, next door is a small-scale amusement park if you didn’t get enough fun at the waterpark.

2. SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World – Underwater Adventure
Location: B1-B2 Siam Paragon Mall
Approx Price: THB 790‑1,290 kids (USD 24‑39), THB 990+ adults (USD 30+)
We all loved watching rays and colourful fish swirl around us at SEA LIFE Bangkok aquarium. This place is not cheap, but the exhibit is more than worth it. The underwater tunnel made Mia gasp, and Caius kept pointing at the sharks. It’s big enough for a couple of hours of exploration, but still easy with toddlers. Book tickets ahead to skip queues.

3. Funarium – Best Indoor Playground
Location: Sukhumvit 26
Approx Price: THB 200‑320 per child for 3 hrs (USD 6‑10)
This indoor playland became one of our rainy-day best things to do in Bangkok with family. Soft play for little ones, ball pits, bike track, slides, and craft corners kept everyone busy. Saturdays sometimes have mini classes or art sessions. Bring socks for everyone. It’s a relief from Bangkok’s heat and perfect for toddlers.

4. Shopping Malls & Playgrounds – Air-Con Fun
Example: CentralWorld / EmQuartier / ICONSIAM
Approx Price: Free entry, playground costs vary
Bangkok’s malls are lifesavers in the heat. Almost every big mall has a kids’ play area, and some have free slides and ball zones. At CentralWorld, we found a top-floor playground where Mia and Caius climbed and slid while we cooled off with iced drinks.

5. Ride a Tuk Tuk – Tiny Thrills
Where: Around central Bangkok
Approx Price: THB 100‑200 per short ride (USD 3‑6)
Mia still talks about her first tuk-tuk ride. It’s silly and noisy and totally toddler-approved. We hopped in near our hotel and waved at street vendors, and both kids kept yelling neighbourhood landmarks at me. Rain or shine, it’s a Bangkok classic. Be careful though, they can be quite pushy and scammy – for instance, taking you somewhere you don’t want to go and expecting more to go to the correct location.

6. Cake Buffet at Lotus Sukhumvit
Location: Bangkok Hotel Lotus Sukhumvit • Approx Price: THB 350‑450 adults (USD 11‑14), kids often free or discounted
For a special treat, we stopped here after a busy morning of play. Unlimited cake, pastries, ice cream, and drinks made tiny tummies very happy. Kids can sample all the sweets while adults relax with coffee.

7. Dinner with a Show at Royal Dragon
Location: Near The Mall Bang Khae area
Approx Price: Moderate family meal rates (USD 15‑25 per person, depending on menu)
This place isn’t just a meal, it’s a performance. A Guinness World Record Holder for the largest restaurant, holding over 5000 seats and 1500 staff. Staff deliver dishes on roller skates and zip lines, and there’s live music every evening. Mia clapped through the whole show, and Caius kept asking for “more music.” It makes dinner feel like a mini-adventure.

8. Chao Phraya River Boat Ride – Quick and Scenic
Where: Bangkok River piers
Approx Price: Private longboat THB 800 for the whole boat (USD 25)
When it comes down to what to see in Bangkok, we skipped the long tours and grabbed a private long-tail boat near the Grand Palace. It was cheap, fast, and perfect for little attention spans. We glided past Wat Arun and Wat Pho, paused for photos, and the breeze kept everyone calm. Better than sitting in Bangkok traffic.

9. KidZania Bangkok – Role-Play City for Kids
Location: Siam Paragon, 5th Floor
Approx Price: THB 650‑1,100 per child (USD 20‑33), adults cheaper (USD 15‑25)
This was one of those places where I realised Bangkok actually gets kids. KidZania is a mini city designed entirely for children, where they can role-play real-world jobs in a safe, colourful environment. It’s best for toddlers on the older end of the scale, but even watching the action and trying a few stations made it worthwhile. Air-conditioned, well organised, and right inside a major mall, which makes logistics easy with little ones.

10. WOW Park – Hands-On Play and Learning
Location: Gateway Ekamai Mall
Approx Price: THB 200‑300 per child (USD 6‑9)
WOW Park felt like a hidden gem amongst Bangkok’s things to do. It’s interactive, colourful, and designed to let kids touch, climb, build, and explore at their own pace. Mia loved the creative zones and problem-solving games, while Caius gravitated toward anything he could push, pull, or crawl through. It’s not overwhelming, which is perfect for toddlers, and it’s an easy add-on if you’re already near Ekamai.
11. Lumphini Park – Green Space and Playgrounds
Location: Central Bangkok (Silom area)
Approx Price: Free
After days of malls and attractions, Lumphini Park was our reset button. Wide paths for little legs, playgrounds, shady spots, and even swan boats on the lake made it feel like a proper break from the city. Mia ran wild on the playground, and Caius loved watching the boats and people go by. It’s one of the best free things to do with kids in Bangkok and a reminder that the city isn’t all concrete and traffic.
