Bradford: Celebrating the UK City of Culture 2025
In May 2022, Bradford was designated the UK City of Culture 2025, becoming the fourth city to do so and the second from Yorkshire. The celebrations kicked off with an opening ceremony on January 10th, and events are planned throughout the year.
If you’re visiting the city in the summer, you’ll have the chance to attend Memories of the Future, a must-see project for dance fans from choreographer Akram Khan. For contemporary-classical music lovers, the three-day New Music Biennial 2025 features local talent and international stars.
Edinburgh: A Hub of Festivals
Edinburgh has been Scotland’s capital since at least the 15th century. It hosts the Scottish Parliament, high courts, and the classically styled Palace of Holyroodhouse but is equally known for its renowned festivals.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest performance arts festival in the world. In 2024, it spanned 25 days, sold over 2.6 million tickets, and featured over 51,000 performances. It’s set to return this August with comedies and events for the whole family.

Swansea: Adventure and Natural Beauty
Swansea, on Wales‘ south coast, has long been a popular tourist destination for its vibrant seaside atmosphere and the natural beauty of the Gower Peninsula. In its 19th-century heyday, it was a key centre of the copper-smelting industry, earning it the nickname “Copperopolis.”
The city council recently approved a new £35 million adventure resort on Kilvey Hill. The resort will attract tourists with a cable car, zipline, and sky swing amid stunning views of West Swansea.
Salford: Revitalisation and Cultural Renaissance
Salford is an up-and-coming city in Greater Manchester undergoing a modern transformation. Over the past 20 years, dozens of modern apartment blocks have sprouted up in the city, and multiple media companies have set up headquarters at Salford Quays’ MediaCityUK development.
Salford Crescent train station, the city’s largest, is receiving a £21 million upgrade. The upgrade will create a new third platform to improve passenger flow and reduce delays. The upgrade is part of a broader £2.5 billion investment in the city to revitalize it and boost tourism.
