Midtown East New York: Three Must-Visit Attractions

Midtown East, New York, is widely considered one of the city’s most vibrant areas – a place that mixes culture, history, and stylish urban living. The place has a buzz like no other, with a huge variety of brilliant attractions to visit (there’s something for everyone whether you’re a seasoned New York traveler or brand new to the city).

In this article, you’ll discover three must-see destinations to whet your appetite for exploring this exciting area!

Grand Central Terminal

No visit to central New York is complete without witnessing Grand Central Terminal first hand. Built in 1913, this beautiful train station encompasses everything wonderful about New York architecture, featuring a stunning Beaux-Arts design with a jaw-droppingly detailed ceiling and sprawling corridors.

There’s plenty to see here besides the architecture and the hustle and bustle of daily life, too. Make sure that you prioritize visiting the Whispering Gallery by the Oyster Bar – you’ll be surprised by what you’ll find there.

If you’re looking for food, there are plenty of brilliant cafes and restaurants to choose from in the station, and there’s even Grand Central Market: a diverse gourmet experience you could spend hours exploring.

The Chrysler Building

The Chrysler building is emblematic of New York’s elegant Art Deco charm. Finished in 1930, the building’s timeless design stands proud against the hundreds of other skyscrpers beside, glistening brilliantly with its decedant stainless steel exterior and ornate eagles perched on each corner.

Unfortunately, the public can no longer reach the top, but you can still admire it close up via one of the many other skyscrapers next to it that do offer access. If you’re looking to snap a picture, one of the best times to do so is at sunrise or sunset; this is when the building truly comes alive in its most glamorous form.

The United Nations Headquarters

If you’re looking for something a bit different, don’t skip out on the United Nations Headquarters, which can be found along the East River. Like many buildings in Manhatten, the headquartes are a unique architectural wonder – but they also offer far more than that for visitiors.

As a tourist, you’re able to take guided tours to indulge in the histroy and operations of the United Nations, and you’ll have the chance to see famous areas of the building such as the Security Council Chamber and the General Assembly Hall.

On the outside of the building, you’ll find some of the most stunning green spaces in the city – perfect for a relaxing walk in the afternoon!

Wrapping Up

Of course, these are only three options for your adventures in the area. Be sure to book your central Hotel Midtown East so that you’re in close proximity to everything else the area has to offer.

The three places above are a great place to start: use them as a springboard and more of the city will open up to you. As always, make sure to ask around! Some of the best places in the city are areas you’ll only find out about from the locals. Have fun!
