21 Best Things to Do in Bangkok with Teenagers

Bangkok is an incredible city for families with teenagers. On our recent blended family trip – two adults and four teens (23, 18, 16, and 15) – we discovered just how much this city has to offer, from cultural experiences to quirky adventures, rooftop pools to endless shopping. If you’re wondering what to do when visiting Bangkok with teenagers, this guide covers our top 21 experiences that kept everyone entertained, happy, and snapping selfies along the way.

Accommodation in Bangkok with Teens

When it comes to accommodation in Bangkok with teenagers, we chose De Prime Rang Nam, mostly because of the rooftop pool we spotted on TikTok – and it did not disappoint. It was affordable, stylish, and we booked three rooms for our blended family of six, which gave everyone some space to unwind.

The rooftop pool quickly became a favourite spot for the teens to relax, take selfies, and enjoy a bit of freedom after busy days exploring the city. Plus, there was a 7-11 right next door.

The only downside was the location – it wasn’t right in the heart of the main attractions, so some commutes were longer than expected. If you’re planning your own trip, definitely check out accommodation in Bangkok with teenagers for yourself, or drop your favourites in the comments – we’d love to hear your recommendations!

Top Things To Do In Bangkok With Teens

Heading to Bangkok with kids? Find our 11 things to do in Bangkok with kids that Mia, Caius, and I loved on our Thailand adventure ten years prior.

But more than ten years later, we are back, and what we ended up doing was far from those Thailand Toddler days. , Here are our top things to do in Bangkok with teenagers.

1. Thailand Glam Photo Shoot

A Bangkok glam photo shoot was my daughter’s top priority. Head to Wat Arun, where places like Thai Glam Studio will do your hair, makeup, and costumes.

You can hire a photographer to capture the best spots instantly. We did this for our joint birthday, and it’s a must for creating lasting memories in Bangkok with teenagers.

While my son had zero interest in dressing up, he did participate in some great family shots.

You’ll see my step-daughter also loved it! We felt like Thai princesses.

It does get so hot, so be the first to arrive when they open around 7:30 am, and highly recommend the photographer, so you don’t spend longer than you need to under the hot Thai sun.

2. Madam Tussauds Bangkok

Madam Tussauds was an absolute hit with the teens. My son was completely obsessed with the Marvel characters – he spent ages posing with Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Einstein! My daughter, on the other hand, was totally absorbed by the musicians and pop stars, lining up for selfies with everyone in the wax museum from Michael Jackson to Ariana Grande.

It was so much fun watching them each get completely immersed in their own world while still laughing and chatting together as siblings. We probably spent a good couple of hours there, exploring, taking photos, and sharing jokes. Teens love the interactive nature, the chance to get creative with selfies, and just the excitement of seeing figures they’ve admired on screen or stage. I’d say this was one of the few activities that genuinely kept everyone entertained from start to finish – the perfect mix of fun, photos, and a little bit of friendly sibling competition.

When the teens were younger, they loved Sea Life Ocean World, but we decided to skip it this time – they’ve seen enough aquariums for a lifetime, but you might like to add that to your list. Find it in Siam Paragon.

3. Bangkok Shopping Malls

Shopping malls in Bangkok are a teen paradise. Our 18 and 16-year-old girls went wild in Pop Mart and all the quirky shops, trying on cute outfits and picking up fun souvenirs. While my step-son loved hunting for streetwear and gadgets.

We spent hours in Asia’s largest retail hub making our way through 4 malls in a row in the Siam area: Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and MBK Center. Malls are not just about buying – it’s exploring, people-watching, and discovering hidden treasures, which teens love.

Make sure to stop at Bangkok’s famous indoor floating markets at ICONSIAM mall, on the ground floor.

4. Dog Café

Inside one of the malls, we found a dog café where the teens could hang out, pet dogs, and relax. Mia practically lived there for at least half an hour. Simple, fun, and Instagram-worthy.

5. Rooftop Hotel Pools

We tracked down a rooftop pool on TikTok, and it was amazing. My daughter and I were thrilled to take selfies with the skyline behind us, while the boys spent more time diving, swimming, and just chilling in the sun.

The happy hour cocktails were a hit, even with the teens who were trying fun non-alcoholic drinks. Rooftop pools are perfect for relaxing, catching up after a busy day, and giving everyone a bit of freedom in a safe space.

6. Rooftop Bars

Even teens can enjoy a sky bar with mocktails. Although Ahmet and I decided to do this one alone, since it was my birthday and he wanted to take me out.

He booked one with a Tulum-inspired vibe, and it was perfect. Pricey, but such a vibe. They even sang happy birthday to me and brought cake! Check the age limits before rocking up, but you will find many that allow teens.

7. Bangkok Food & Chef’s Tours

Thai food tours are an absolute must. It’s hands-on, fun, and a great introduction to Bangkok with teenagers.

Teens learn what to eat, how to order, and get excited about the rest of the trip.

My son was game to try weird and unusual street foods, while my daughters were fascinated by the colourful desserts and fresh fruit. Hands down, the Thai Green Curry was a hit for me. Our Chefs Tour was probably the best in Thailand, with both tuk-tuk and boat rides.

8. Massages & Beauty Appointments

Massages, nail appointments, and beauty treatments are big hits with teens. My daughters loved getting their nails done and eyebrows shaped, while my son was surprisingly into foot massages after long days of exploring. Most malls have fantastic salons, so you can easily mix shopping and pampering in the same trip. Or you can be lucky enough to have them opposite your hotel.  Make sure you try a Thai massage at least once!

9. Bangkok Markets

Bangkok markets are huge and exciting. My teens loved bargaining for quirky souvenirs, tasting street food, and exploring colourful stalls. Make sure to check opening days – we once arrived at Chatuchak Weekend Market, which was open on Google Maps, but was very much closed.

10. Bubble Tea & Local Drinks

Bubble tea is everywhere in Bangkok, and my daughter couldn’t get enough. The price difference between huge malls and local malls was at least $5! The kids also loved trying the different sodas and juices from 7-11 or street stalls.  Cheap, fun, and a little treat for walking between sights. By the way, that coffee store next to Thai Glam Studio at Wat Arun – 10 out of 10!

11. 7-Eleven Adventures

Yes, 7-Eleven. TikTok loves it, and so do teens. My teens were fascinated by the weird snacks, seaweed chips, and unique drink combos. We popped in almost every day, grabbing small treats, beauty items, and snacks for the day’s adventures. And gosh knows teenagers can eat. All the time.

12. Visit Buddhist Temples

Bangkok temples are colourful, beautiful, and a little educational. My teens loved taking photos of the intricate details and learning some history behind each temple. It’s also a nice balance between sightseeing and slowing down a bit from the busy city. Check out Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun at the very least. But go early – Bangkok heat is no joke.

13. Muay Thai Fights

Watching a Muay Thai fight is thrilling. Unfortunately, we didn’t get time on this trip to do it, but it was top of my list, so I’ll just have to go back. Muay Thai is a great introduction to Thai culture and sport. Side note, you might like to check out the Channel 7 boxing stadium or the Rajadamnern Boxing Stadium. The last one especially looks epic!

14. BTS Skytrain & Grab Adventures

Skip the traffic and ride the BTS Skytrain. Teens love the novelty, and it’s practical for zipping between sights. I wish we had done this earlier in our trip, because having to take taxis in Bangkok is a nightmare, unless there is just one of you jumping on the back of a bike.

15. Movies

Visiting the cinema in Bangkok with teenagers is a surprisingly fun way to relax after a busy day. Most malls have a movie theatre, and you’ll find plenty of showings in English with Thai subtitles – just be careful not to accidentally pick a dubbed version! We found a local mall theatre that was much cheaper than the big, flashy ones like Paragon Cineplex, and it was a hit with all the teens. It’s a great way to escape the heat, enjoy some downtime, and share a fun family experience. Go ahead and enjoy a movie – popcorn in hand – while soaking up a little local cinema culture.

16. Street Food & Casual Dining

Street food in Bangkok is cheap, delicious, and adventurous. My daughter tried everything from Tanghulu (sugar fruit sticks) to milk rotti – pancakes with sweetened condensed milk and banana. We were lucky to have spent a lot of time at the street food market in Krabi and Koh Lanta, so everyone discovered their favourites. Street food is fun, social, and a great way to let teens explore flavours. No one got sick if you were wondering.

17. Scenic Riverside Walks

Walking along the Chao Phraya River was surprisingly a hit. My teens loved snapping photos, trying local snacks from riverside stalls, and enjoying a slower pace after busy days of sightseeing. But getting on a long-tail boat or even the public boat system is even better!

18. Iconic Instagram Spots

Bangkok is full of colourful murals and hidden walls. My daughters went on a mini photo hunt, while my sons got creative, taking shots of each other. Teens love capturing moments to share, and Bangkok makes it easy.

19. Hidden Cafés & Dessert Shops

From animal-themed cafés to quirky dessert spots, Bangkok has endless options. My daughters loved the cute décor, my sons enjoyed unusual flavours, and it was a nice stop for the family to rest, snack, and enjoy some downtime.

20. Exploring Bangkok’s Quirky Corners

Bangkok’s small markets, secret streets, and unusual shops were an adventure in themselves. My teens loved discovering hidden treasures and off-the-beaten-path spots. It kept the city exciting, unpredictable, and memorable for everyone.

21. Tuk-Tuk Ride

Tuk-tuk rides in Bangkok with teenagers are an absolute blast. Whizzing through the busy streets, feeling the wind in your hair, and seeing the city from a totally different perspective is such a thrill for teens – and adults too! Just be aware of scammers and always agree on a price before hopping in. Once you get the hang of it, tuk-tuks are a fun, fast, and unforgettable way to explore the city while giving the teens a little taste of adventure in Bangkok’s vibrant streets.

EWE Wrap Up

Bangkok is the ultimate city for families with teenagers. From glam photo shoots to rooftop pools, Muay Thai fights to shopping sprees, there’s always something new to explore. Our blended family of six had the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and fun, and we left with memories that will last a lifetime.

If you’re planning a family trip, embrace the chaos, dive into the experiences, and discover why Bangkok with teenagers is one of the best family travel destinations in the world. I admit I can only say that because we paired it with a beach stay in Koh Lanta – and the mix of both was pure perfection.
